Dinner at the Diamond

July-Sept 2024
Angelina College Foundation

Dinner at the Diamond is an annual fundraising event hosted by Angelina College Foundation to support students at Angelina College. Held on the college’s baseball field, the event brings the community together for an evening of games, auctions, dinner, and camaraderie. Each year, between 50–100 printed materials are required to bring this large-scale event to life, from invitations and signs to branded elements that enrich the experience.

For both the 2023 and 2024 events, I served as the lead designer, creating layouts all of the prints and collaborating with the event team to ensure everything met their vision. In addition to the numerous designs created each year, I also created an organizational spreadsheet to track materials and streamline future preparations. This system reduced last-minute revisions and improved overall workflow.

The biggest and most important part of the project for this client has always been the invitation. The same die cut is used each year, but the design changes to make the event feel distinct and fresh from the years past while maintaining certain elements core to the Dinner at the Diamond and Angelina College brand.

For me, the fun of a project like this is thinking of all the different views invitees will be seeing the invitation from. Each panel was carefully thought out to work well on its own, with the panels beside it, and with the design as a whole. To fully realize my vision, I spent some time in the beginning of the project making hand drawn versions of the invitation wrap. I even printed multiple test versions throughout the design process to check my work along the way.

In the end, we had a design that everyone was happy about from every angle you viewed it from.
